McDonald's joint venture company opposes its plea in Delhi High Court

McDonald’s move to terminate the franchise agreement with Connaught Plaza Resturants Pvt.Ltd. is making news in the current days with the later challenging the move in the Delhi High Court. The termination would lead to the closure of 169 food outlets across North and East India(operated by Connaught Plaza Resturants Private Limited). By way of it’s plea, the fast-food chain has restrained the later to stop using it’s brand name. Connaught Plaza Resturants Private Limited (CPRPL) has turned the heat upon the fast-food gaint by claiming the later’s move as an ‘abuse’ of the process of law. CPRPL retaliated it’s move by challenging the termination in the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal Board (NCLAT) where it is pending consideration. The matter is listed for hearing on 5-2-2018. National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) was constituted for hearing appeals against the orders of National Company Law Tribunal(s) (NCLT), with effect from 1st June, 2016.
